Hello from the Writers Guild Initiative! We’re so excited that you’re interested in participating in one of our writing workshops. Please read below for more information about general logistics and what to expect and during the program.
First, in order to sign up for our workshops, please let your respective and regional Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) staff know that you’d like to attend! They are always looking for people who are interested to learn more about writing and want to be a part of the program. Once you’ve let them know, WWP will send out an invitation to the workshop through their Travel and Events team, stating the dates of the program and asking if you’d like to and are able to attend. If you’d like to come (and we hope you do!), they will contact you via email (and if necessary by phone) to arrange travel and hotel accommodations at WWP’s expense.
Second, once travel is arranged, you’ll receive confirmation of your itinerary, hotel stay, and transportation (to/from airport, if needed) through WWP and Amex. For our writing workshops, the program starts on Saturday morning and ends on Sunday afternoon/early-evening – it’s a weekend program. Participants traveling to the workshop site usually arrive on Friday morning/afternoon and leave either on Sunday evening or early Monday morning.
Third, once you arrive for the workshop, a transportation vendor will greet you at the airport to take you to the hotel where you (and the other participants) will be staying for the duration of the workshop. WWP representatives will be on hand after you check in to your hotel to provide you with any up-to-date information. They will also gather all participants together on Friday evening for a welcome dinner reception and get-to-know-you session.
Finally, on Saturday morning you will meet us, your mentors and teachers for the weekend, where we’ll gather you into smaller groups and you’ll have an opportunity to talk, share, reflect, laugh, and most importantly write! WWP and WGI staff will be on hand throughout the weekend to assist you and answer any questions you may have.
Thank you for your interest and we hope we get to work with you soon!
